After graduating from Pratt Institute in 1974 with a Bachelor Degree in Sculpture I discovered papier mache as a great medium and easy to work with at home. For many years, while living in NYC, I sold my sculptures through galleries and private commissions. I have created many varied animals (zebra, giraffe, monkeys, birds, etc.), life sized portraits of people’s pets, as well as human beings. I have always enjoyed the challenge of a portrait or specific customer request. In 1983 after a move to Cape May, NJ, I decided on a drastic career change and became a Registered Nurse and subsequently a Nurse Practitioner. I loved my nursing career, but it left me very little time to be artistically creative. Now that I have retired I am once again able to pursue my first passion...sculpture! Marketing my work is so different now in the age of computers than it was in the 1970s-80s. I am so pleased to have now developed my own website allowing me to reach thousands of people and have them see my creations. Please enjoy browsing my site. I welcome all comments and suggestions either directly or via Etsy convo. Thank you. Professional Achievements Exhibited in: Mables - Madison Ave. NYC Inc. She constructs people and pets and recently discovered the charm of barnyard fowl. Her white Leghorn chickens are great fun, with their bright red combs and yellow feet. They're life-size and lifelike, and one or more of them would be amusing to find unexpectedly in a country kitchen. The birds are $200 each at Mabel's." |
